35-year-old Rinat Dray filed a lawsuit against two doctors who forced her to get a c-section.
The mom who had two prior C-sections suffered previous complications which prompted her to opt for a natural childbirth this time around. However, as soon as she was admitted, doctors at the Staten Island hospital told her that there was no way she could deliver naturally. They added that doing so will put the baby in peril and would be tantamount to child abuse.
After hours of trying to deliver naturally, Dray was finally sent to the operating room for the c-section.
“The woman has decisional capacity,” the doctor wrote. “I have decided to override her refusal to have a c-section.”
Dray is now suing the doctors for malpractice with the claim that the hospital “improperly substituted their judgment for that of the mother”. While the baby is in good health, Dray claims that the c-section punctured her bladder.
