Teens on Bicycles Rescue Kidnapped 5-Year-Old Girl
Two teens chased down a car after recognizing a 5-year-old girl who had been missing for a few hours.
Jocelyn Rojas was playing in her family’s front yard when she disappeared without warning. Police officials were called to the scene as they cordoned off the streets and passed out descriptions of the little girl.
At that point, 15-year-old Temar Boggs saw a suspicious car in the neighborhood. Together with his friend Chris Garcia, they tailed the car on their bikes. Boggs got close enough to see a little girl who matched Rojas’ profile and decided to continue pursuing the vehicle, despite multiple attempts by the driver to ward them off.
Eventually, the driver let the little girl out of the car and drove away. “She runs to my arms and said, ‘I need to see my mommy,’” Boggs recalled.
Boggs immediately took Rojas to the police who in turn brought her back home.
“It is possible that this individual saw the boys following him,” explained police officer Jeff Jones. “So, it is possible he got nervous.”
“[Bogg]‘s our hero. I mean, there’s no words to say,” the girl’s grandmother said gratefully.
Officials are now looking for registered sex offender, Harold Herr who has been identified as a person of interest in relation to this case.
