Teen Dies from Terminal Cancer, But Not Before Inspiring Millions
When he was 14, Zach Sobiech discovered that he was suffering from osteosarcoma, a rare form of terminal cancer that gave him only a limited time to live. Instead of letting the disease engulf him, the teen decided that he wanted to compose music to continue inspiring people, long after he passed.
Last year, he received the grim diagnosis that his cancer had spread and he had less than a year to live. As a final and intimate goodbye to family and friends, Zach wrote “Clouds” and released it before he passed away a few days ago on May 20, 2013.
“Clouds” not only went viral on Youtube, but became # 1 on the iTunes top-selling singles chart, as well as recently landed on the Billboard charts at # 7. Proceeds from the song will go to children’s cancer research and to Zach’s family.
