Polish soldiers were patrolling the streets near the Waghez military base in Afghanistan, when they saw a newborn baby girl on the side of the road.
The soldiers were first suspicious of the baby and cautious of roadside bombs or other sudden attacks. When the coast was clear, the soldiers took in the baby who they have now named Pola, after their home country, Poland.
The baby was checked into a medical center located on the base where soldiers found her some formula and a bib.
No word as to who abandoned baby Pola, or if they were able to locate her parents.
