While no one believed in his little brother Cayden, 9-year-old Conner Long decided to prove them wrong.
Cayden, 6, suffers from cerebral palsy and has only been able to watch his big brother from the sidelines. That is, until Conner proposed a different idea: he suggested that the brothers form a team to compete in races and triathlons.
And so, “Team Long Brothers” was born, with the boys competing in several triathlons across the country. And while they never came close to winning, their story reverberated across multiple news outlets.
“[It was] pretty inspiring to some people and it was cool to me that I took on the challenge to pull my younger sibling,” explained the precocious 9-year-old. “When I see him smiling and laughing, that means he’s having a good time.”
The brothers have recently been honored as the 2012 Sportskids of the Year. Check out their inspiring story below!
