When an apartment fire left her no escape, 23-year-old Christina Simoes jumped from the third floor to save her toddler.
Simoes who is suffering from serious injuries underwent multiple surgeries, but could possibly never walk again.
“I knew it was my only way out,” Simoes recalled. “I kissed him and told him I loved him and then I jumped.”
When she landed on the ground, she immediately lost feeling to her legs, but used her arms to crawl away from the building.
“I’m not doing too great, but I’m alive,” Simoes also added.
18-month-old Camron is doing well with minor injuries and has been reunited with his mom.
“It’s so worth it because he’s OK,” she said. “It’s amazing to see him perfectly fine and playing.”
