According to a study by the American Lung Association, almost 70% of adult smokers begin smoking before they turn 18. In fact, most of these kids have their first smoke when they’re only 11, and get addicted thereafter.
So why do they start?
- Smoking parents
- Peer pressure
- Act of rebellion
- Tobacco advertising targeting teens
Some companies are making a move in stopping the addiction before it starts. In an impressive stance, CVS is now forgoing $2B in revenue and stopping cigarette sales in all of its stores. To top it off, the company is also starting a campaign to help America’s 42 million smokers quit smoking.
