Residents from Oak Lawn, Illinois are on high alert after sharp screws were found on the slides of a popular playground earlier this month.
“The screws were screwed into the slide and knocked off the heads to create a nice sharp edge,” Park Superintendent Joel Craig explained. “It’s extremely disheartening and disturbing.”
Ten screws were found in the middle of two slides, but luckily, they were found before anyone could be seriously injured.
No suspects have been found, but officials are now performing regular checks on the park equipment.
This is reminiscent of an incident last March when a 2-year-old child was injured after razor blades were found glued to playground equipment in Illinois.
