We can all agree that the birth is one of the most beautiful natural processes. A new life appears on this world and you can’t put a price on that, can you? Well, if you live in the USA, you can. In fact, after everything is done, you’ll get a precise figure telling you exactly how much you owe the hospital, the doctors, the pharmacies, and so on. One Reddit user decided to share the actual data they got after the wife gave birth through a C-section. The figures are, lightly said, worrying and seem ridiculously huge. Let’s break the info down.
According to the graph created by the user, the least amount of money goes to blood and lab work – just something over $4,000. Then come the doctor fees – a bit over five and a half grand. This includes the essential part of a C-section, the actual operation. The second most expensive segment on the graph are the medications used throughout their stay at the hospital – $12.6k, where the smallest amount of merely $486 goes to the anesthesia. The most expensive part, by a lot, are the hospital bills that result in the amazing $18,774. The newborn care alone is just under $3,000, similar to the cost of the recovery room. Labor room is twice that amount.
Overall, it seems that having a baby costs quite a lot in the USA. If you’d like to see the actual chart and all the details on it, please go here. Did you have any similar experiences? Feel free to share.
