8-year-old Myles Eckert found a $20 bill in a restaurant parking lot. Instead of quickly stashing the money in his pocket, he decided to use it to buy lunch for a soldier he saw inside the diner.
“He was a soldier,” Myles explained simply. “And soldiers remind me of my dad.”
Lt. Col. Frank Dailey was eating lunch when he received a $20 bill wrapped inside a note that read:
Dear Soldier, my dad was a soldier. He’s in heaven now. I found this $20 in the parking lot when we got here. We like to pay it forward in my family. It’s your lucky day! Thank you for your service. Myles Eckert, a gold star kid.
Myles’ dad was killed in Iraq on May 8, 2005, 5 weeks after Miles was born.
