What began as a regular mother-son dinner at a local Waffle House turned out to be a heartwarming event for all the diners.
5-year-old Josiah Duncan was eating his dinner when he noticed a solitary disheveled man sitting on one of the tables.
“He came in and sat down, and nobody really waited on him. He just kind of sat there,” Josiah’s mom recounted.
Josiah started asking her questions about the stranger and after she explained that he was homeless, Josiah insisted that they should buy him a meal.
“Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because he couldn’t order without one,” she said. “He said, ‘Can I have bacon?.’ And I said, ‘You can have as much bacon as you want.'”
Before the man ate his meal, Josiah had a special request. He asked if the man would bless the food. He agreed, and his prayer was joined by the rest of the diners who were all in tears at this point.
“Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I’ll ever get to witness,” his mom said with pride.
