When a storm hit Logan county last Tuesday night, a daughter’s plea for help saved her father’s life.
10-year-old Brianna Vance was inside the house with her dad’s girlfriend Brenda and their two children when a sudden storm hit hard.
“I had barely enough time to turn around, and I heard something go kabam!” Brenda recalled.
When she looked out the house, a large tree had fallen down their porch right where Gregory Vance and his two friends were standing.
“I hollered out the door,” Brenda added. “I said, Greg, Greg, where are you honey? I got no response.”
The three men were trapped underneath the tree, and all cell phone lines were down due to the storm. There was no way to call anyone for help.
Right then, Brianna had an idea to use the existing wifi signal and access her Facebook page.
“I was scared,” she said. “I needed help. My dad needed help. So I had to post that.”
Brianna recorded a message, “The lightening crashed and hit a tree by our porch and my dad’s almost dead. He needs an ambulance please. Please call one for us if you have signal. We live in a yellow house, a trailer. Please. We need an ambulance. Please. Please.”
Luckily for her and her dad, soon after she posted the message on Facebook, the Henlawson Fire Department showed up at their home and saved the three men.
With Brianna’s quick thinking, all three men were rushed to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
